Flooring that Flows from the Inside Out

Written by creatingyourspace on . Posted in Design Tips

To create a seamless flow in your home that reaches beyond the inside walls to the surfaces of your outdoor spaces you simply need to do one thing, take the floor outside. Just because the roof stops, does not mean the flooring has to! It is the perfect way to stylishly blur the lines between indoor and outdoor space.

Why would someone want to blur the lines between indoor and outdoor space? Great question. Because it visually expands the space and can provide a sense of freedom. When the floor just visually keeps going it creates a feeling of more room to roam and explore.

4 Tile Patterns to Dress up your Floor

Written by creatingyourspace on . Posted in Design Tips

Once you have selected new tile for your home remodeling project, the next task is figuring out how you want the tile laid out. Just to get you started, here are four ideas featured on Houzz.com.

1. Checkerboard. Whether you prefer the classic black and white or two other colors that go with your interiors, you can have them set straight or on the diagonal.

2. Running bond. You may have heard this pattern called brick or offset pattern. The tiles are offset by half the width of the tile.

3. Basketweave. The woven effect on this floor is created with squares and rectangles.

4.Pinwheel. Also called Hopscotch, this pattern is made by a small square tile that is surrounded by four larger ones.

If your floor is looking old and worn from years of constant use, then that will make a huge effect on the visual appearance of your rooms as a whole. If you are looking for a flooring design that is traditional, yet unique, consider herringbone tile floors.

The herringbone pattern creates a sophisticated look that not only instantly updates the aesthetic of your home, it is also appropriate for any room in the house.
