Glass Shelves in the Bathroom

Written by creatingyourspace on . Posted in Bathroom, Design Tips

Glass shelves are a versatile storage option for the bathroom.  Glass shelves can be hung throughout the bathroom. In smaller spaces like a bathroom the glass will take up less visual space than a wood or painted shelf.

Glass shelves virtually disappear into the wall behind them. If you use a floating shelf design like in this bathroom, the shelf will blend in with whatever is behind it. This allows your beautiful backsplash to be uninterrupted by the shelf. This is important when you have an intricate pattern like a mosaic or border.

Tempered glass is always a good idea in a bathroom for a shelf or a shower door. Tempered glass will not shatter into shards, which can be dangerous in a bathroom with its tile or wood floor.  If you have a glass shower surround, glass shelving in the room can unify the design.

Glass shelves can be hung above the toilet as well as above the vanity.  You can vary the depth of the shelf depending on its use and placement in the bathroom. Thicker shelves can be used to store extra toilet paper, jars of Qtips and cotton balls, or even extra washcloths and hand towels in neat rolls. Smaller shelves can hold toothbrushes and toothpaste.

No matter the material you choose for shelves in the bathroom, make sure you secure them to the wall with the proper screws for your wall type. Going into a stud is always a good idea when hanging a shelf that will hold any weight.

For Mother’s Day Give Your Mother Flowers For Her Home Decor

Written by creatingyourspace on . Posted in Events and Happenings

How many of us run to the florist annually to get our mother fresh flowers for Mother’s Day? While the beautiful blooms are well received and well loved, they eventually wither and die, leaving an empty void where the fresh florals were. If your mother loves having blooms in her home, consider getting her some of the botanicals and florals available through For the Home from Ambassador Floor Company.

Candice Olson’s Kitchen Design Inspirations

Written by creatingyourspace on . Posted in Design Tips

Do you love Candice Olsen’s HGTV show, “Divine Design”, as much as we do?  We are hooked on Candice’s fresh and contemporary design style.  Check out these amazing kitchens designs from Candice’s show.

Durable Solutions
Design your dream kitchen for durability. Three kinds of porcelain tile and carefully planned cabinet storage make this kitchen a stylish workhorse.

Open Up Your Space
Knock out a wall to add space to your kitchen. This kitchen seamlessly integrates with the dining area, using a buffet island to separate the two.

Unique Flooring
Make a statement with your kitchen flooring. Stripes of light and dark concrete-like material add an unexpected touch to this contemporary kitchen.

Mix It Up
Two-toned kitchens are more interesting than one-toned. A marble island, different cabinet finishes and Art Deco tile make this Candice’s favorite Divine Design kitchen makeover.

Now that you have seen Candice Olson’s designs, check out Candice’s Home Collection at Ambassador Floor and For the Home.

Master Bedroom Makeovers

Written by creatingyourspace on . Posted in Design Tips

We love Candice Olsen here at Ambassador Floor Company and For the Home.  We are always so proud to carry Candice Olsen’s products. You might have seen  Candice on her HGTV show Divine Design.  Recently, Candice did a piece for the HGTV website that showcased Master Bedrooms Makeovers.  Here are some of our favorites:

Before: Green Carpet and Pink Wall paper is this 1982?

After:   Candice creates a floor plan that includes a sitting area and desk and made the fireplace the focal point of the room. A natural wheat color carpet and area rugs soften the room. This homeowner is thrilled. “This is the most beautiful room I’ve ever been in,” she says.

Before: The room had only the basics.

After: The room is cozy, stylish and environmentally friendly.  Candice chooses a low-VOC paint in a warm blue color, and mixed organic fabrics and recyclable carpet tiles.
