Carpet is a stylish and comfortable flooring option, and at Ambassador Floor Company in Chesterfield, Missouri, we carry a huge variety of high-quality carpets from the best brands, like Karastan, Mohawk, and many others.
Stains happen, but you don’t have to let them ruin your carpet! Find out how to keep your carpet looking great with these helpful tips from Real Simple.
To clean stains from wine, ketchup, chocolate, coffee, tomato sauce, juice, etc:
- Use a white cloth and detergent solution to dab at the spot repeatedly, then hold and press the cloth on the stain for a few seconds. After 15 minutes, soak up any excess liquid with a dry white cloth.
- Next, repeat step one but use white vinegar instead of detergent. Wait another 15 minutes, allowing the white vinegar to remove any detergent left in the carpet fibers, which if left will attract dirt.
- Rinse the carpet by blotting with a cloth and lukewarm water. Let dry.
- If the spill is particularly bad, put a 1/2 inch stack of white paper towels on the stain and sit a baking dish on top for 15 minutes.
(Tips are for synthetic fiber rugs. For tips on cleaning natural-fiber rugs, check out the article linked above.)
