Floors to consider for your Kitchen Remodel

Written by creatingyourspace on . Posted in Design Tips

October is National Kitchen and Bath Month, dedicated to educating people on the benefits of kitchen and bathroom remodeling. And you can’t have a perfectly remodeled kitchen without a brand new floor to match. So that leads us to the common question: What flooring is best for my kitchen?

Well the first thing you have to consider is the style you are going for in your newly remodeled kitchen and the color scheme. You don’t want your brand new floor to clash with the other design elements in the room, so it is best to choose complementary materials.

Now as far as materials go, hardwood floors are absolutely lovely, however in a kitchen, the issue of water damage needs to be considered. Luxury vinyl tile is a great option for your kitchen floor because they can mimic the look of ceramic, stone or slate. Ceramic tile is great for kitchen floors because it can hold up against high traffic and moisture.

We love our kitchens. Not simply because it is the place in the home where we go to fill our bellies with delicious meals, but because it has quickly become the new heart of the home. For those of us who have light, bright white kitchens, an important part of the aesthetics of the room or space is the flooring, as in all kitchens really. However, in a white kitchen, the flooring really becomes more noticeable. It may seem that any flooring would go well with a white kitchen, but you have to remember that you still want it to match the style of the rest of the home too. Here are 3 flooring options for White kitchens, courtesy of Traditional Home:

Concrete Flooring

The concrete floor in this kitchen was scored and hand-tinted for a lustrous appearance.

Wood Flooring

This lovely white kitchen has a bleached-wood floor that helps to add a subdued presence to the space.

Tile Flooring
